Rent Beau Trois, and wake up to a lovely house, newly decorated
with finesse, with terrace with dining area under a fig tree, and a good
sized
sunbathing area in the garden. River a few steps from the house is perfect
for swimming, or sunbathing on the grass embankment.

DETAILS OF ACCOMMODATION
Beau Trois, is in a small quiet street, a few steps
from a river providing a clean (tested by the local authorities) bathing
pool, that is constantly being refreshed as the river flows downstream.
Entrance is via a 2 metre high gate, providing both security for parking,
as well as privacy - as its impossible to see over or through.
After parking your car, you walk across a courtyard garden (perfect
for sun-bathing) bordered by flowers, to a terrace area,
shaded by a fig tree, perfect for dining,
or secluded relaxation. Four chairs, and four sun loungers, with table
and parasol are provided.
Entry into the house is via a glass fronted door into the living
dining kitchen area. Here special care has been taken to create
a warm intimate but light area, with wooden beams, white walls with architectural
features,
and a tiled floor. An L-shaped settee looks onto a wood
burning fireplace, with stereo entertainment
system for CDs and radio.
There is also a TV.
To the back there is a dining table to sit 4 - 6, next
to an American style kitchen, with dividing counter
top. There is plenty of storage and counter top space for preparing food.
There is a combination convection
oven and microwave, a 4 ring gas hob,
2 under counter refrigerators,
a washing machine, and possibly a dishwasher.
Stairs climb to the second floor entering into small landing with doors
leading to the master bedroom with king size
double bed; and a bedroom
with two single beds that can be joined to make a double. The bathroom has
a washbasin, bathtub with shower attachment, and a W.C.

The river at Bize is perfect for swimming.
Just
off the main road between Beziers and Carcassonne, visitors will immediately
see the Oulibo, a cooperative that produces some of the best olives and
olive oils in France, as they drive towards Bize Minervois. About 2 kms
down the road the small village of Bize, with a clean river flowing through,
offers a dazzling array of possibilities for the visitor.
The village boasts 4 restaurants, and a café/bar, as well as 2
grocery stores, a butcher, a post office, 2 hair salons, a very good bakery,
a pharmacy, as well as a number of small shops selling art and gifts.
At one time the surrounding hills were famous for growing garlic, but
now these terraces are overgrown, or put to use as vineyards, or woodland.
The river was used as a power source for mills that had as the centerpiece
the Logis de Colbert - a factory that produced flags, textiles for Louis
XVII. At the center of the walled village is the church that dates back
to the 13th century.
THE SURROUNDING
AREA
Bize Minervois is part of the Minervois region, that includes
the captivating village of Minerve 10kms to the north, that straddles
two deep river gorges, and was the site of a famous siege and martyrdom
of Cathar Parfaits by Simon de Montfort.
Towards the south and east there are the towns of Beziers, and Narbonne,
with splendid cathedrals, excellent markets, shops, museums, and much
to see. Ten minutes drive further are the seemingly endless sandy beaches
of the Mediterranean that run from Cap d'Agde to Gruissan, and further
north and south.
To the west in about 40 minutes driving is the Medieval cité of
Carcassonne that featured in the Kevin Costner Robin Hood movie, as Nottingham
Castle! The Cité is a marvel to see, with magnificent walls, views,
shops, restaurants, museums. For castle worshipers - go to the Corbieres
and visit the dizzying peaks where Queribus and Peyrepertuse are found.
Two castles that defy gravity and provide stunning views over the surrounding
hills, valleys towards the Pyrenees and Spain.
Nearer are beautiful abbeys such as Fontfroide, near Narbonne (which also
boasts a *Michelin restaurant), and Lagrasse, where there are pottery
fairs in the Summer months
ACCESS
Bize Minervois is close to Autoroute exits at Narbonne (20 minutes) at
which there is a motorail terminal. International airports are at Toulouse
(90 mins), Barcelona (135 mins), Montpellier (90 mins) and Carcassonne,
and Perpignan (45 mins - to which RyanAir fly daily from Stansted, London).
Eurostar,
from Waterloo, London connects at Lille or Paris with TGV direct to Narbonne.
