A beautifully restored 'Maison de Vigneron' in the hamlet of Cazo,
only 3.5 km from the centre of Saint-Chinian.
Our house La Vigne is situated on the edge of the hamlet of Cazo (next
to l’Amandier). There is no through traffic. Sometimes Mr. Sanz,
the shepherd, passes through the hamlet with his flock of sheep and goats.
The spacious garden overlooks a vineyard of which you will have a delightful
view from your bedroom window.
DETAILS OF ACCOMMODATION
The house has about 100m2 floor area, has been restored sympathetically
and there are original fireplaces and tiled floors. Electricity and sanitary
installations however are entirely renewed and central heating has been
installed.
Ground floor
Spacious kitchen with dishwasher, gas cooker, fridge/freezer,
micro wave oven, stereo with CD player, and fireplace. Cosy living room
with TV/video, French window to terrace and garden.
1st Floor
Bedroom with double bed (160 x 200 cm, 2 mattresses), Laundry room
with washing machine, Separate WC. Bathroom with
double washbasins and bath/shower.
Folding bed (90 x 190 cm).

L'AMANDIER

A special house that combines traditional and modern styles in the hamlet
of Cazo, only 3.5 km from Saint-Chinian.
Our house 'l'Amandier' is located on the edge the hamlet of Cazo next
to our other house, ‘La Vigne’. There is no through traffic
and time does not seem to have passed here. The house has recently been
completely restored, conserving authentic detail where possible. There
are two spacious bedrooms one with a double bed and the other with three
beds. Both bedrooms have there own private 'en suite' bathroom. The furnishing
is very complete and tasteful; combining modern comfort with old and antique
furniture.
At
the back of the house there is a walled and partially roofed over courtyard
from which you walk straight into your South-West facing terrace and garden
bordering on the vineyards.

The house has a floor area of about 100m2 and is equipped with entirely
new electrical and sanitary installations and central heating. It is convenient
for two couples.

ABOUT CAZO AND SURROUNDING AREA
Cazo
is a pretty hamlet between St Chinian and Bize Minervois - near the villages
of Villespassans and Assignan.
In
St Chinian there are supermarkets, shops, wine stores, cafés and
restaurants. There also is a beautiful swimming pool. The market is held
twice a week, on Thursday and Sunday under the plane trees in the big
square , and is especially lively on Sundays. A short drive is Roquebrun,
with its marvelous Mediterranean garden, and the river Orb - perfect for
bathing and canoeing.
Close is the village of Villespassans - that has a small general store,
for basic provisions. Further on are the village of Bize Minervois, on
the river Cesse - where there is a deep pool for river swimming, the "Oulibo"
a renowned olive press and store as well as numerous restaurants.
To the south west is the Cathar village of Minerve, astride 2 deep river
gorges, - known for its bloody history as well as its excellent red wines
and restaurants.
The Mediterranean is about 45 minutes drive - but well worth the visit
for the endless sandy beaches, as well as visits to Narbonne, with Cathedral,
shops, and roman history; or Beziers, with Cathedral, old town, and its
Summer Feria - with bull fighting and serious partying in the streets!
ACCESS
International airports are within easy driving distance - Montpellier
(60 mins), Carcassonne (60 mins), Perpignan (60 mins). There are railway
stations in Narbonne and Beziers (40 mins) with TGV connections to Paris
and beyond.
