Outstanding converted wine cave to rent with private garden, swimming pool and fish pond. Built in the 19th century in the small village of Argeliers which is located on the Canal du Midi, the property was originally the site of the local Cave Cooperative. Brimming with character and tastefully restored, the property retains much of the charm of yesteryear with a number of old wine vats in place to this day.

Totally private yet located in the centre of the quiet village, La Folie has four bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms and high ceilings with original beams.
The original high stone walls surround the property which includes a Mediterranean garden, an outdoor pool (8m x 4m), fish pond and a shaded dining area.
Private parking behind electric gates is provided for 3 cars as well as parking for one car in front of property.
La Folie is a large, bright and expansive home with generous living space, including kitchen, living room, library/TV room and a mezzanine floor overlooking the living room.
The kitchen is equipped with cooker, hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, iron. There is a separate larder off kitchen.
The library TV room is has Terrestrial TV, DVD, Radio, CD System, Board Games. UK Satellite TV (Free to Air only - No SKY TV).
Two of the four bedrooms have built-in airconditioning and one recently restored bedroom contains the original lift used to haul the grapes into the Cave!
Another bedroom overlooks the Mediterranean garden and pool, while a third is located downstairs and allows easy access to the garden and well stocked fish pond. Down stairs ensuite has bath as well as shower facility. Bath is suitable for disabled person.
Outside there is a private pool, terrace, garden, BBQ, parking. The garden in well equipped with suitable furniture. There is a weekly pool cleaning service.
General
The house has an open fireplace, as well as central heating and air conditioning, House Linen, Towels Provided. There is a small safe for valuables in one of the bedrooms. For dining there is seating for 10. Guests have a choice of dining inside around a large oak table or dining out beside the pool.

ABOUT ARGELIERS AND SURROUNDING AREA
Argeliers has 3 restaurants, church, supermarket, newsagent, post office, chemist, doctor's surgery, two butcher's shops and two boulangerie. You may use the local tennis courts and enjoy seasonal rugby matches. Bicycles can be hired in nearby village. Large Boats can be hired on the Canal du Midi just 5 mins from Argeliers.
The village is 40 minutes from the beaches on the Mediterranean Sea. The surrounding countryside contains many beautiful walks in the hills or along the Canal du Midi. The Languedoc is one of the largest wine producing regions in France so there are plenty of vineyards to visit. In addition, there is an abundance of local markets to choose from.
Argeliers is one hour to the Pyrenées and the stunning resort of Collioure, near Perpignan. To the west, it's 40 minutes to the magnificent medieval city of Carcassonne. For those seeking some Spanish delights, Barcelona and Figueros (home of the Dali Museum) can be easily reached on a day trip.
