This comfortable and exclusive property is located in the heart of
an old traditional town, Sigean, near the salt etangs and the Mediterranean
seaside with its yachting scenery and exceptionally huge beaches, where
one can choose to join other sun lovers but find spots where one is practically
alone. Situated in a quiet little street the house is nonetheless close
to the “ Place de l’Eglise” (church-square), and the
food-market. Marvelous beaches, surfing, sailing, horse riding, biking, walking and hiking; visit the wild park “Réserve Africaine” (with lions, elephants, bears, antelopes etc.), the stern castles of the Pays des Cathares, the famous Abbaye de Fontfroide, the 450.000 years old hunter “Homme du Tautavel”; and enjoy French life at its very best (and not as crowded and expensive as at the Côte d'Azur!).
And come back home, after a day out there, to this quiet comfy dwelling and chill in and around the pool.

ACCOMMODATION
This exclusive and beautiful old house (1850) has
been totally renovated in 2003 with modern comfort, respecting its original
materials and its chic style. It is in a perfect state and has been repainted
in 2007.
At the rear of the house a completely enclosed, spacious courtyard offers
perfect privacy. There is a large terrace, flower borders, a playing and
lounging room in the back and, last but not least, a 8 x 4 m swimming pool with salt chlorination system (kind on skin, eyes and bronchi) and swim-in-place
current system.
The original wall, ceiling and woodwork decorations are matched with antique
family-pieces of furniture glowing with the patina of times past. Contemporary
couches, armchairs and light sources provide comfortable and practical
touches. The owner being an accomplished sculptress, here and there pieces
of art are adding to the distinctive style of the property.
GROUND FLOOR
A long corridor provides access to the living-room, the kitchen, the dining-room,
the TV room with TV and DVD player, the restroom and a small scullery with
the washing machine; the end of the corridor leads to the courtyard.
FIRST FLOOR
3 large and beautiful bedrooms with 3 bath or shower-rooms:
2 bedrooms 17 m2 each and with 2 windows each, with double beds (190/140
cm) and shower or bath, wall-cupboards.
1 bed-room with a comfortable folding double-bed (190/160 cm), bath-room
and toilet, private terrace looking down to the pool courtyard

SECOND FLOOR
2 very large bedrooms (over 20 m2 each) and 1 single bed-room (9 m2) and shower-rooms:
1 with 3 windows, it’s own shower-room and a medium size bed

Maximum number of occupants is 9 persons. Linen provided. Washing machine,
dishwasher.
A cleaning-lady is required for 6 hours a week at the renter’s
charge (€ 12/hour).

SIGEAN AND SURROUNDING AREA
Sigean is an ideal choice for a family-holiday, offering a large range of activities for whatever age: plenty to do for everybody, from grand-parents to grand-children.
The small town is alive all year through; with lots of shops, a cinema, a sailing-school, with a market twice a week, amazing walks along the famous wilderness of the Sigean Etangs, concerts, liveliness, everything close to the house. And last but not least, a good selection of cafés and restaurants.
Horse-riding farms are close. Leucate and it’s delicious beach restaurants, sea-food all day long served with the famous white wine from the area.
Nature lovers can roam the protected parks (“la route des Etangs”) extending along the coast, consisting of salt etangs and moors where flamingos carefully tread and forage on prawns in order to keep their pink complexion….
For the mountaineer there are some “Abseil” façades. Endless beaches where one can either be in the suntanned crowd or driving along a while, completely alone, free as “ God in France” as they say.
