Gorges de Galamus, near Chateau de Peyrepertuse, Aude
Drive along this stunning gorge close to the village of St Paul de Fenouillet, and the Chateau de Peyrepertuse, and look down at the cliff hugging Hermitage of St Antoine. If you are more adventurous - swim climb sunbathe down the river that leaps and lingers at the bottom of the gorge. Close to are the magnificent Cathar castles at Peyrepertuse and Queribus. All three are worthy of an exceptional day trip from Perpignan, Carcassonne, or Narbonne areas.
