The Canal du Midi crosses the Cesse Aqueduct (built 1689 - 90)

The tow paths of the Canal du Midi provide perfect bicycle paths for all times of the year - the magnificent plane trees providing protection against wind and sun. Here near the port of Le Somail (boat rentals), the river crosses the River Cesse (where in contradiction to the name the Cesse pools are good for swimming or paddling!, or building dams for the kid in all of us).
