Take
a day out and visit Peyriac de Mer and Sigean,
near Narbonne, Aude, Languedoc
Just a short distance from Narbonne, visit Peyriac de
Mer - here there is a lovely walk that takes advantage of
the
remaining vestiges of the salt industry. You can even take
a swim in a very salty lake - floating is an enjoyable pastime
here. Otherwise walk along and on top of these half islands
- with great views of the Corbieres and beyond. Not far away
is Sigean with surprises in its back streets, away from the
busy street that runs through the town. The Church has a
great alterpiece, and there are some fine buildings. Looking
for wild animals? - visit the Reserve Africaine - with thousands
of animals to see. Or take in one of the best centres of
contemporary art in the area at Hameau du Lac.
