Part of the miraculous landscape of Provence, Les Alpilles, boasts Les Baux de Provence - one of the most visited tourist sites in France! (2.5 million a year!). As well as being immortalised by Van Gogh, the chateau and neighbouring village is a breathtaking place to visit - best taken in early morning or late in the day. There is a lot of medieval mansions and architectural gems, as well as a Museum of Modern Art.The surrounding countryside is glorious with its bold rock faces, and open landscapes, its perfect for walking, or driving and just contemplating the beauties of this part of France.
