Just got back from the Languedoc and I can fully recommend L'Affenage Restaurant, 4 Place de la Mairie, Aniane, 34150. Tel 04 67 57 31 25. It is a superb restaurant, mid priced, hidden down a little side street in Aniane, which is in the Herault region. They are closed Sunday evenings, Mondays and Tuesdays..
Ambiance is soft music in the background, twinkly fairy lights, and food is not only excellent but plentiful too! Menus are in french but the owner speaks English.

Indian restaurants are hard to find in the Languedoc region; Narbonne seems to have lost all indian restaurants. Le Punjab, is housed in a veritable Taj Mahal with lots of glass. There is of course the usual wall hangings, and the bollywood on the TV. The food was a little on the cool side, not steaming from the kitchen - but there is a good variety to choose from and of course menus in English can be provided. If you go at night - the room seems a little too dark - but perhaps thats great for romantics young and old. Worth more than one visit!

This is a charming, friendly little restaurant. The good-value menu used freshly-sourced ingredients, which were prepared with care and originality. The vegetable and salad accompaniments, so often an after-thought, were especially good. The wine list was short and well chosen, but could perhaps take greater advantage of the wide range of local wines around Narbonne.

The owners of Le Canard Bleu used to run the 'Fin Fourchette'
Agde for many years. The owner cooks and his wife is front
of house. The restaurant is only open at lunchtimes but is
open every day 7/7 at the moment. They have two menus, one
of 10 Euros
and the other 14 Euros. Both are three courses with a choice
of three starters and three main courses for the cheaper
menu and a selection of five for the more expensive one and a
of home made deserts or cheese.
The food which is Traditional French is excellent as is the presentation.
Their house wine is a very reasonable 4 Euros a half litre. Parking
can be a problem as it is all narrow streets in the area but
it is a short walk from Allee Paul Riquet and well worth the

My husband and I ate in this charming, yet casual hilltop restaurant overlooking the picturesque Lot River, French countryside and the nearby historic Cenevieres Chateau in July 2011. It is the only restaurant in the small village of Calvignac and is easily accessible on foot or by car (there is a free parking lot below the town). My husband and I both had the Eco Menu for 12 Euros each which included a decent mixed salad with fresh tomatoes, lettuce, grated cheese, onions and olives, a crepe with grated cheese, tomatoes, parsley and epaule (pork), fresh bread, a glass of wine and a scoop of ice cream for dessert. The crepes were especially delicious. If you are traveling in the area and want to have an enjoyable, good and affordable meal with a view, this is the place for you.
