If you are looking for a refreshing meal in a relatively genuine fishing village near Beziers and Montpellier - then go to Mèze, that sits close to the Etang de Thau, with sumptuous views of Sète. Fresh mussels and oysters are eaten as well as a wide variety of fish at both Le Coquillou (where the shellfish are prepared outside as you eat) and Le Nouveau Pescadou (which has more sedate interior, with a terrace with a fine view of the port). Make sure you drink the local brew - Picpoul de Pinet ... a delicious light white wine that is perfect as the sun heats the day
