La Table de Roueire, between Quarante and Capestang, Herault
Restaurant Find of the Month (September 2001)

La Table de Roueire, between Capestang and Quarante, near Beziers

Adventurous dining and excellent wine can be found at reasonable prices, with a glorious view

It was quite an adventure to find this restaurant, snug at the back of the Domaine de Roueire. I was so used to tasting wine at the cave, that I walked in the main entrance, and was told to take a deep spiral staircase into the depths of the wine cave, and then walked surrounded by giant casks of wine, through a back passage, into a surprising modern, and well designed restaurant with beautiful views across vines. The wine list as one would expect is spectacular with some very reasonably priced wines - they make some very good wine here! The dining was adventurous as it had a hint of daring and panache
