La Table
de Roueire, between Quarante and Capestang, Herault
Restaurant Find of the Month (September 2001)
Adventurous
dining and excellent wine can be found at reasonable prices, with a glorious
view
It was quite an adventure to find this restaurant, snug at the back of
the Domaine de Roueire. I was so used to tasting wine at the cave, that
I walked in the main entrance, and was told to take a deep spiral staircase
into the depths of the wine cave, and then walked surrounded by giant
casks of wine, through a back passage, into a surprising modern, and well
designed restaurant with beautiful views across vines. The wine list as
one would expect is spectacular with some very reasonably priced wines
- they make some very good wine here! The dining was adventurous as it
had a hint of daring and panache
