capitelle shepherds shelter aigne

A capitelle, a sheperd's shelter, near Aigne, Minervois, Herault.

This part of France is the home to numerous capitelles, in corners of fields, or hidden under garrigue. One could say they are the palaces or temples of the shepherd - shelters from wind, sun, winter, and the wild. This one is on a small outcrop just a short walk from the village of Aigne, in the Minervois. Languedoc, South France.
