Narbonne
Cathedral, Narbonne, Aude, Languedoc
The Basilica of St Just and
St Pasteur towers above the city of Narbonne, and provides a potent
viewpoint from the surrouding hills and vineyards. This photo is taken
from the 14th century cloister, that provide an access point from the adjoining Archbishop's palace. The cathedral was never completed - which is a great pity - and one feels slightly cheated when walking
around inside, that one sees only half a masterpiece.
However don't
put this off visiting this cathedral that matches on equal terms the
grandeur of the cathedrals in Northern France
