Where to go : Vaucluse - Provence - South France
Visiting the Ochre quarries in the Colorado region, with its
pretty villages of Gignac and Rustrel - is without a doubt a
colorful experience. Be prepared for a climb, and be sure footed,
as sand is not the easiest of surfaces.
The visit is well worth,
with landscape views quite different from the norm.
Bring water,
and light clothing if coming in Summer as it can be hot!
Close to the up to the market village of Gordes,
is the very pretty much photographed Abbaye of Senanque where its fields of lavender set it off, in a blaze
of color. The Abbey boasts a very good book and gift shop which with air conditioning that is a sought after for retreat
in the heat of the day.
For those seeking more solace,
walk round the side of the Abbey to visit the church -
which is plain, simple, and a good place for prayer.

visit for a retreat or
participate in the religious community.
